Default Accessories for the Aera 660

Looking at upgrading my Garmin 396 with a Aera 660. I see that to get XM music and Wx ( like I have on the 396) I need to purchase another $600 XM device ie GDL51. Will the 660 not receive XM from the old hockey puck xm antenna , I believe its a GXM40 or may be an GXM 30?? If not, sure makes my old 396 look even better!

Nope. The only way to get SXM anything in the aera 660 is to buy a GDL 51/52. Legacy antennas cannot be used. If you want to stay with your current hockey puck you will have to stay with the GPSMAP 396/496 (GXM 30) or 696/796 (GXM 30/40). Were it me I would either stay put or spring for the 660 with a GDL-52. Basically an all or nothing proposition. To hit somewhere in between would be penny wise and pound foolish.
