I appreciate Doug's letting me use the forums for this alert. There is a bond issue coming up in Chandler in May. I think the total is on the order of $400M. Of that, $56K is being requested in order to lengthen the south runway by 900 feet and add taxiways. Of course the price is much higher than that but the Chandler ante is about 5%. This additional length will preserve the accel/stop safety margin that is normally there in the wintertime, through the hot summer months.
There is a PAC to promote the airport and we are alerting all the AZ pilots as well as those from farther away that use CHD for fuel &/or food. We need positive support from the pilot community to get the attention of the people of Chandler as to the importance of positioning the airport to support business. Please visit the website at
