Installing a Garmin GDL-82

I guess the Garmin GDL-82 ADS-B isn't shipping yet, but will soon.

Does anyone know if I can install one myself in my experimental aircraft? I've never figured out when/how Garmin controls when a shop must do installation.

And as far as the legal ADS-B installation goes, I can do that, right? As long as the installation conforms to the manufacturer's guidelines, it still meets the requirements, right?
