That oil door appears to be behind the high pressure area of the cowl.

It is behind the high pressure upper plenum area, but it is open to the lower cowl plenum area, which still has a moderate overpressure compared to the outside flow.

The oil doors on both my airplanes are very similar. Made them out of .063 aluminum with a hidden hinge and a single Hartwell latch. the latch locks against a milled aluminum stripe riveted to the cowl. No reinforcements on the door and no bulging at any speed.

Nice work. I've heard that there are people who live without a lathe. I don't know how they do it.

It is a brave new world once you have one. Next on the list is a Mill.

Default SkyBolt ? turn Latches

Having installed my cowlings with Sky Bolt ? turn Latches, I had a few spare units laying around.
Originally, I was thinking of using the CamLoc system, but what the heck, with those extra SkyBolts, why not.
They are extremely secure and I don't believe any amount of pressure inside the cowling is going to cause them to release.
I put one in each corner on the closing side (opposite the hinge side).
