Default Lycoming Questions

Hi Everyone,

Newbie alert!
I purchased a RV6 project that is nearly ready for the engine. I'm struggling with deciphering the engine codes.
For instance O-360-E2A or IO-360-A1B6, or O-360-C2E
The best site I have found for deciphering the trailing code "E2A", "A1B6", "C2E" is this site but still doesn't seem to cover everything:
http://www.meyette.us/LycomingEngineNumbers.htm

I understand the first part of the codes, it is just the part that comes after the 360 or 320.

Another question is can a "A1A" be used with a fixed pitch prop or only constant speed?

Thank you,

Trent Flemming
Longview, TX

The two sites below should help.

Yes, the A1A can accept a CS or FP prop.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lycoming_O-320
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...O-360_variants

EDIT: Looks like the site you referenced has basically the same information as the two above.

The codes are also in the back of your RV6 builders manual.
