Default In Antenna Placement

I have a GDL 39 (non-remote). I've been flying with it for 3 years just sitting on the glare shield, and love the T/FIS-B out of it! But it's time to mount it. I tried a quick zip-tie to the roll over bar, but it looks ugly and the reception sucks.

I've read a few threads, some folks are mounting the antenna in the firewall? Sounds like a RF nightmare with ignition wires. It's receiving the most important signals from the ground. So, I figure it goes on the belly, but not near the transponder obviously. I've seen some in the wing-root fairing.

Anyone have a recommendation for what worked well? Pictures or threads with pictures?

Thanks,

-Bruce

My IN antenna is mounted just forward of the left gear mount on my -7A. The transponder antenna is opposite on the right side, about 3' away.

No issues with either ADS-B in (up to 11700 MSL, so far) or out (per the FAA PAPR report).
