Default Starter wire firewall pass through

Does anyone know an insulated starter wire firewall pass through whereby you attach it to the firewall then you can bolt the wire from the starter selenoid on one side of the firewall and then a separate wire from this "bolt" on the engine side to the starter. Does anyone on the list know if such a thing exists?

TIA

Jody

Default Yes, but...

Yes they exist and you can buy them from any number of race car supply houses, but the insulator is plastic and most definitely not fire resistant.

Blue Sea makes feed throughs:

$20ish bucks each.

They're available from boat shops or:

I know others exist - check your local boat stores...

I have to say that I'm not sure I'd use them on the firewall without some sort of firestopping measure.

Looks easy to role your own with something like 1/4 in phenolic sheet and a stud. I don't know about the fire rating though.

Default What about a stuffing gland

These are known as cord caps. You can get them in aluminium (as good as the fuel bulkhead fittings). basically they provide an insulated (rubber doughnut) pass thru of the firewall. You can then use some firewall sealant to cover the little bit of exposed rubber.

This would be more fire resistant than the nylon block/stud I think.

i used them in place of the eyeball vents for the cable pass thus...Look professional.
