Default Cleaning stored parts

Good evening everyone,
I am looking to put my elevators and rudder on for good and was wondering how others cleaned the parts before final assembly? They have been in storage and there is dust, dirt, bug goo, and who knows what else on the parts. Obviously it would be easiest to spray it down and wash it like a car, but Im curious is there a better to do this. I know some of the parts are steel and water could lead to corrosion. Any tips or stories would be great.
Thanks
Brandon

On mine, I've wrapped them in bubble-pack before hoisting them into the
rafters. I had one down and it was fine.

Also, I'd already primed my steel parts. Probably not final paint but good enough to get through storage.

Sorry, this doesn't help you, but it might the next guy.

Dave
