Garmin Pilot download purgatory

How do I resolve this issue? My Garmin Pilot app (iPad) is in download he11. It never stops downloading, yet it never gets anything downloaded. Just shows 0 of 210 items downloaded, with 48 hours to run. This has been going on for days on end.

Can this be fixed. Uninstalling the app is not an option.

I had this.

I don't recall which of these solved it

1. stop the app, then restart it
2. Reboot the device and then restart the app

I had it too - had to do the "force restart" option. No idea why, but it fixed it.
