Garmin 496 XM antenna mounting
Our Garmin 496 did not come with a mount for the GXM30a XM antenna. The kit had just about every other type of mount. Surprised it didnt have one for the XM antenna. We found out that Garmin sells an accessory kit for about $15 for a bracket and screws for the XM antenna. The XM antenna has a place for two screws on the base. After a trip to Ace, I found out that it takes a metric screw. Looks like a M3 screw in 6 or 8 length will work if you want to mount it yourself. We had a mount under the cowl for our remote antenna for the Garmin. Decided to put the XM antenna along side of it. Total cost 42 cents for the two screws.
