Raising the nose gear on an RV-10
I searched Google and VAF and did not find a simple way to raise the nose gear to change the nose wheel.
For the main gear, I use a 1-1/8 pipe clamp and a standard hydraulic jack. This works great.
But, for the noise gear ?
Any ideas ?
Scott

I have a 120lb chunk of concrete on rollers that anchors a cargo strap attached to the rear tie-down. Winch the strap down and the nose gear comes off the floor.

I use my engine hoist with straps to the engine mount to lift the nose off the ground. Others use the tail tie-down ring and weights or straps to an eyebolt in the hangar floor to pull the tail down and lifting the nose up.

We've done it like this with an anchor attached to the floor of the hanger and a ratchet strap. Actually one guy will lean across the fuselage at the tail and slowly pull the front end up then we just tie it down more than ratchet it. Works really well.

This worked just fine for me---and a buddy's 10 before that.
Some folks have expressed a lack of confidence in the lead insert-----use something more secure if you feel it is needed.

On my -6A, I use a scissor jack under the nose gear fork strut nut. This allows me to remove the wheel / tire and to check the breakout force at each annual. This is a very stable method to get the nose wheel off the floor.

Standard floor jack right under the front of the gear leg works great (I have allow profile race jack)

Mine is just a standard four wheel dolly, a sheet of 3/4" plywood, and some concrete blocks. Works great!
