Post Garmin Aera 795/796 V5.20 Software

Hello,

We released V5.20 software today for the Aera 79X.

Some of the significant new features are highlighted below.

TargetTrend traffic information showing a track vector where traffic will be in a specified time in the future relative to your aircraft was already available on the dedicated traffic page, but not on the main map. With this update, it is now available on the main map.

A much requested feature is the display of airspace segment altitude upper and lower limits similar to what is provided on VFR sectionals. This is now displayed full time on the map page (at appropriate zoom ranges) without having to first touch an airspace segment.

Finally, SXM weather doesn't provide NOTAMS, but ADS-B weather does. If you have both a GXM 40/42 satellite weather receiver and a GDL 39 or GTX 345 ADS-B traffic/weather receiver connected to your Aera 796, the unit will receive and display the FIS-B provided NOTAMS even when you have selected the SXM weather for display so you get the benefits of both.

Changes made from version 5.10 to 5.20:
  • Add TargetTrend(TM) traffic motion vectors to map page
Add display of traffic target details on the traffic page when target is touched
Add display of airspace altitudes on map
Add display of ADS-B airport NOTAM data when SXM weather source is selected
Improve display of road labels on map
    Improve Bluetooth & Connext interface
    General improvements to system operation
Includes update to GDL 39 software version 4.80

Thanks,
Steve

Default Thanks for the improvements

Appreciate the continued attention to the 79X series. I know you have a list of potential feature requests from us users and have to prioritize your resources.

Exporting the flight log to either the SD card or via Bluetooth to the Garmin app is still something I would like to see (a la the 496).
Thanks
Figs

Default flight plan

Hey Steve,
Any plans to make it possible to import a flight plan via bluetooth to the 796 from Garmin pilot?

Hello Tooch,

This posting explains a hardware limitation that limits the usefulness of that.
