Default rv8 windshield fairing

I am close to making the windshield fairing on my 8. Using the standard fiberglass method. Looking at vans instructions it show a width "aprox 2 1/16 inch. I used Sikaflex to attach both the windshield and the canopy. To do that properly you prime the area on both the windshield over the front rollbar and the front bow of the canopy frame. both areas are a 1" wide. When the canopy is closed there will be at least a 1/16 gap, probably more between them. To cover that area my initial width for the fairing is close to 2 1/2 inches, unless I let some of the primed area show on the canopy. On vans drawings the fairing only goes to the center of the rivets on the canopy . so they can get away with 2 1/16. Here is the bottom line and asking for comments and help.

1. How wide is your fairing in that area?

2. How much of a overhang is there when the canopy is open on the windshield side?

3. how close are the canopy frame and the roll bar with the canopy closed?

Sorry for the long post but I am kind of desperate to get some help on this.
