Default Removing the prop governor

This might be a dumb question...

If I remove the prop governor without first draining the engine oil, will I make a mess? Not sure how the oil system works at that spot on the engine.

Thanks.

Default Removing Governor

The governor is well above the oil level in the sump so no worries there, but there is oil in the governor and the line that goes forward to the prop so you will be dealing with about a cups worth. If you are only removing the governor unbolt it from the drive pad and leave the drive pad bolted to the rear case.

Except if it is a dual mag system. The drive pad is integral to the pump.
