Default RV8 windshield canopy gap

I would like some thoughts on how much gap should be left between the windshield and the canopy when closed( the space between the plexiglass.. My initial thoughts are around a 1/8 inch to maybe 3/16. how wide do you make the fiberglass fairing the covers the gap. The instructions say " Apron 2 1/16" It appears that mine will be closer to 2 1/2 inches.

I would make the gap as small as possible. I think mine is about 1/16. 2 1/2" will be just fine.
