Default Garmin GAP Pitot head.

I installed the Garmin GAP 26 pitot head into my RV-9A G3X Touch system and after 10 hours of hard running in, I decided to do the AoA calibration.

On finals, AoA would pop up then go away, then pop up and go away. AoA calibration was done three times in flight; same results.

Time for a Pitot/Static leak check. Big leak found. Pitot head removed and system checked, no leaks.

The pitot head had an internal leak between the AoA port and the pitot port.

My advice, if you have an erratic AoA indication, check the pitot head for internal leaks.

With all five ports taped off with electrician insulation tape: AoA, Pitot and the three drain holes, I could not suck a vacuum on the two pipes due to the internal leak in the Pitot head.

Have any others had this problem?

I had to replace two Garmin pitots before I received one that works.
