Default wing attach

is it necessary to attach both wings at the same time? I'm talking for the initial fitting and rear spar drilling here.

In theory it could probably be done one at a time, but it will be A LOT harder to make sure everything is lined up. It's not a particularly hard job, but the consequences for screwing it up are kinda big. Mounting and drilling the rear spar is a job that can easily be done in a day. Once that's done, you can do all other stuff one wing at a time.

You will definitely need to have them both on for drilling the rear spar. Like Steve says, its theoretically possible to get them lined up correctly one at a time, but its not worth the risk. Do it right the first time.

You may want read the FAQ off of Van's website to ensure that you are following the proper steps and considering all of the issues. It is located here:

Since this is a critical area of construction, go slowly as you only get one shot at drilling the rear spar.
