main wheel caliper bracket question

Having some confusion regarding axle flange U-403 and caliper bracket placements. Looking at the axle with threaded end closest to me, you
install the U-403 axle flange. Question is: does the caliper bracket mount to the outside (wingtip side) of the flange OR on the inboard side (fueselage side)
of the flange. I am using the C2 drawing not clear to me.

I get brake caliper grease at Advance Auto and apply it to the back of the plate where it contacts the puck and on the pegs that go through the plate. It is sticky and it lubricates those parts well. (This does not come in contact with the aircraft specific brake fluid). Those mounting bolts will loosen over time and will have to be tightened down, you'll know when your wheel pants start to wiggle as you are taking them off.

Here is some info to keep in mind also. When you remove your brake pucks in the future to clean them be sure to put them back in correctly, o-ring side first. They can be put in the other way, but after the first few time that you use them, the o-ring will come out to far and you will lose all your brake fluid and you will have no brakes.

The discussion revolves around insufficient clearance between the brake disc and wheel fairing attach plate. Van's specifies 1/16", which IMHO is way too small, especially since you'll be instructed to beef up the drilled holes in the fairings with layups on the inside, which tends to diminish your established clearance. Put the layups on the outside and fair them in.

Also, I would be wary of using a lubricant from an auto application. The materials in aircraft systems are specific for aircraft brake fluids.
