Default 2 batteries

Is anybody here running 2 batteries? If so, do you have a picture of your setup?

Do you have a copy of the Aeroelectric Connection book? There are several Z-figures that detail dual battery setups.

Default Two Batteries

I have an electrical system with two batteries. I fly my RV-7A in hard IFR conditions and wanted a very robust/redundant electrical system.

Under normal conditions, the batteries are in parallel, thus charged normally. If there is a main buss under voltage they are automatically separated , but through diode coupling both batteries are still available to power the essential avionics.

The batteries are also separated during engine startup, allowing ALL the avionics to be powered up during engine start.

This system is different than those depicted on the aeroelectric site. IF you would like a copy of this setup email me at wstucklen1 at cox dot net.
