Question Paint Temperatures

This is a bit premature, as I am probably a year away from paint, but while doing some research in some custom paints, them have references to "tolerance of 400 degrees" or "1600 degree threshold".

I imagine the only area to really worry about is the cowl, and belly near the exhaust pipes.

Can anyone tell me what temperatures are typically seen on the surface of the cowl after a flight in the noon day sun? I imagine that is the hottest they get.

Do they stay under 212? I can't imagine water boiling if put on the the surface. Am I wrong?
