Default FlyLeds.com

I recently (today) installed a set of FlyLed strobe/position lights in my RV4. It originally had standard Whelen strobe/nav lights with a single power supply. I think I must have saved at least 5 pounds by eliminating the power supply, lights, and the heavy gray cable going everywhere. These new LED lights are very bright - much brighter than the ones I replaced - light weight, and they don't use much energy. The point of this post is to let you know of the positive experience I had with Paul McVitty, founder/owner of FltLeds. My RV4 has wingtip cutouts for flush position/strobe units. I don't think these are standard, although there are a few others like mine - a little smaller and much nicer looking than what is standard for RV4 wingtip cutout mounted lighting fixture kit that you could get from Van's. Paul's RV4 lights that he has posted on his website didn't for my airplane. Over the course of a few weeks we were able to pass information back and forth and he came up with a lighting fixture that perfectly fit my somewhat non-standard wingtip cutouts. He did all this, shipping circuit boards back and forth - twice, from Australia - and didn't charge me anything extra..... Every email was answered quickly, and I didn't have to wait for an answer - from the other side of the world! I think this kind of service is worthy of notice. It is definitely something I value whenever I buy anything.

These lights just look cool, and they're less expensive than practically all of their competition. I'll try to post some pics here...... usually doesn't work on this website. If you don't see a pic or two here and want to, just send me a message, and I'll email you some pictures - email always works.

Default My thoughts exactly

I suspect I was "the other guy with old-style cutouts" talking with Paul at the same time you were. I was about to post a similiar thread, as I too had a very good experience with Paul and flyLED's. Made us new boards to fit our wingtips, and took the time to send me templates to double/triple check the correct size and shape, and sent me a revised instruction manual for differences with my board. I can't wait to put it all together and light them up!
