piano hinges

i will soon begin to fit and attach a fiberglass cowling. i have done one before and never gave a thought to using extruded aluminum piano hinges instead of the hinges that have rolled eyelets.
any opinions as to whether or not extruded is needed for a conventional cowling attachment.
