ADS Traffic working?

I have an RV-7 with a Garmin G3X, GTN650, and a GDL-39. Occasionally I will see other traffic visually that does not show up on my Garmin screens. Last week I was in the pattern and the tower was calling traffic to me such as a corporate jet that were very likely broadcasting ADS out. I never saw them on my G3x.

Anybody know of a quick way to check and see if ADS traffic is working properly?

Yep, the little status icons on the G3X screen.

One is for air to air and the other is for the ground based uplink.

Don't be so sure that jets have ADS-B OUT. Upgrading most jets, especially pre-2007 ones, is a very expensive proposition. Airliners aren't even at 10% ADS-B out yet.
