Default Vans Ammeter Dead?

Today I noticed that my Vans ammeter was reading full negative. i.e. Against the negative post. Everything else was working normally. Volt meter showed 14+ volts, all electronics were working. I didn't smell any smoke.

When I got back to the hangar I put a volt meter on the power terminals on the ammeter and got 12+ volts. I put an current meter on the two shunt terminals on the ammeter and as I added load, I got values like 0.09, .16, .25, etc.

I checked all the related wiring and could not find any loose wires. Based on this I would conclude that the ammeter just went bad. The shunt seems to be working normally since I can see current at the shunt terminals.

Does that sound right?

Thanks,
Michael-
