Default C-702 Skin & Canopy?

Does the 702 skin need to be riveted on the canopy frame before fitting the canopy?

Thanks

I assume you're building a tipper?

No; it's actually better to keep it clecoed during the initial fitting. You'll find that you'll need to adjust the slot where the canopy plexi transitions to the side rails, which is best done off the frame.

I installed all the forward and edge clecos, and only the aft clecos between the hinge brackets (these attach to the aft tube on the tip-up frame). The canopy fits well around these.

I just finished the fitting/priming/painting and will be riveting my 702 on this weekend. I expect to make some fine adjustment to the canopy fit once the entire frame is riveted together.

Yes, a RV7 Tipper.

Thanks for the info. I have the initial trimming done on the canopy. Next is back on the fuse. and marking for the Big Cut.

Thanks again.

Great!

I found the big cut not to be an an issue at all. You'll find that you will need to trim the fore and aft canopy edges where they come together on the roll bar as the canopy settles down on the bar. So, just try to make the cut reasonable straight; you'll be cleaning up the edge in any case.

Good luck!
