Yep... it's just as easy as it looks in the video and it really makes a beautiful (welded) end on cables. The RV-12 has four small cables, 2-choke and 2-throttle, that need to be removed from time to time and the welded ends make it a non event. Hopefully this tip will worm its way into the RV-12 plans one day.
Tip #2 - before heating the cable, verify the cable twist direction and twist in the same direction. I just noticed on one of our -12s that the choke cable was a left twist and the throttle was right twist.
