Default Garmin Magnetometer Mounting Location RV-8

A Garmin G3Xpert has suggested locating their GMU 22 magnetometer on a fabricated shelf mounted to the upper longerons just aft of the shoulder harness attach points. He says he has worked with several RV-8 builders to accomplish this arrangement and it works well. I searched the VAF forums for information about this idea, but didn't find anything.

Can anyone who has done this help me with shelf design ideas? Thanks.

Hello Fred,

Maybe you already have this information, but we have a document that shows pictures (no dimensions) of the bracket and installation location in an RV-8A.

We are happy to share this document with you if you want to contact us at the email address below.

Thanks,
Steve
