Juneau icefield tour (almost)
(edit) I've figured this out finally, so the complete photos are in posts 8 & 9 below.
Since Picasa has died, it appears the only option is Google Photos, and I don't see any way to embed photos from there like I used to be able to do in Picasa. Nor do I see any way to add any captions in Google Photos. Whats not to not like.... Anyway, here is a link to some of today's short aerial tour NE of the Juneau Icefield in SE Alaska. I'll keep working on figuring how to edit/organize this stuff and maybe eventually embed photos.

Here's (kind of) the APRS track, when there was a signal to get out:

Google photos
Hi Greg,
Wow what great photos! I also had to give up on Picasso. I found in google Photos if you get the image in the album full screen you can right click on it and select copy image location. Paste that in the insert image link at the top of the page. The link are stupidly long, but it does work.
Is that the Juneau airfield at the end of the album?
Blue skies.

Airfield is at Atlin - this is on the NE side of the icefield. Juneau has a nice 9000-foot paved runway (although a turbo DC-3 just landed at Atlin the other day....)
No joy on google photos - sucks that they seem to try to "improve" stuff and then leave out the important and/or useful parts. No joy in finding the stuff you suggest, or any info on the internet that tells how to do what I want (either add captions or copy the photo links).
Thanks for the comment!
Cheers,
Greg

Also, you can control the size of the image by editing the w<xxx>-h<xxx> numbers at the end of the URL. For example to reduce an image to 400x600, change it to "w400-h600". Don't worry about getting them exactly right, it'll keep the proper aspect ratio when adjusting the image to fit.

PIC TESTY
HOLY MACKERELL... I DID IT!!! Scott is a jeeneyus! Greg, I also don't see 'copy image', but open 'big' image, right click for 'properties', then right click on the URL, and copied that 'paragraph' into the usual VAF image address function. Nice scenery pardner. ( beard mandatory up there eh?)

Finally figured it out, I think....godawful clumsy compared to what things used to be....
Leaving Atlin, headed west, looking down Torres Channel, Teresa Island on left.
South arm of Tagish Lake:
Tight turn in a glacial valley, glacial silt in the lake below:
Nelson Lake, in Atlin Provincial Park. Nobody anywhere near...
Glacial outwash plain from icefield up the valley to the right:
Willison Glacier:
Closer up view of the surface of Willison Glacier:
Cathedral Range:
South end of Atlin Lake, looking NE toward our cabin (basically in center of photo but too far away to actually see), Teresa Island center left:
Headed north up Torres channel, Teresa Island on right:

Top of Teresa Island, almost 5000 feet above lake level, looking at the S end of Atlin Lake (Teresa Island is the worlds second highest island for those of you trivia fans):
Landing back at runway 18 Atlin, Teresa Island of the end of the runway:
