Default Crankshaft flange id

Reattaching the flywheel. On my engine, There is an "O" on the flywheel and crankshaft flange to line up, but I can't see the mark on the flange. I do see a 40 stamp on the edge of the flange, and it appears that that bushing is "stepped" at the point. Is that the O? Is there another way to find the O bushing?

Thanks
Scott

If I remember correctly, the index bushing is 20 or 40 thousands bigger than the others for identification. You can use a micrometer or caliper to find it and the corresponding hole on the flywheel. You can also determine TDC on the #1 cylinder and then install the flywheel with the aft facing TDC mark straight up (vertical).
