Default Dark grey grease when servicing Harzell

I was servicing my Hartzell 7666a constant speed prop today and when I removed the rear fitting and pumped aero shell 6 in the front a dark grey "grease" came out. The same happened on the other side.

Prop has 1070 hrs since new and was serviced last April with normal results. No performance issues noticed. The prop was off last year to install a new alternator belt. Has anybody seen this? Overhaul time?

Thanks in advance
Phil

Default zirk fitting?

Did you remove the zirk fitting on the other side before pumping grease?

Default DARK GREASE

It is normal to get black grease out when you pump new tan color grease in.

I have been getting it for over 18.5 years on my Hartzell prop.

Default Prop shop agrees!

Thanks for the responses. Yes I did remove the rear grease fittings. The prop shop agreed and said it was normal. Thanks for the help. I'll keep an eye on it.
