Default throttle disassembly

i have a question about the 800 series of throttles from acs.
it appears that the black plastic knob unscrews from the shaft that slides in the throttle body. it appears that i can remove the assembly from my subpanel if i remove the knob and push the assembly thru the subpanel.
has anyone done this? i am concerned about being able to reassemble the black knob firmly on the shaft again? do you hold the locknut with a wrench and turn the knob against the wrench?
any experience greatly appreciated.
