Default battery cable terminals

the #4awg terminals from acs and other suppliers have a barrel open at each end and the terminal is tin plated. i have put a few on cables with a h.f. hydraulic crimper and they came out good.
what's the story on the terminals with the barrel closed at the terminal end and no tin plating? are these terminals ok to crimp and use ? what about only aft of firewall where corrosion would not be ab issue.
thanks
