Default gelcoat chipped

I was just looking at my fiberglass elevator tips. there are a couple of small chips in the white gelcoat. What's the usual solution to this... smooth it with automotive body filler when I prep for painting?

Thats what we do with boats being prepped for LP paint. If it is an area that will see alot of flexing we would do some microballoons there, but I doubt you would need to go to that trouble in this situation.
