Tire recycling?
Last month I had a flat. Tires were pretty worn out, so I bought some new tires, tubes. Also did the brake pad replacement.
What do I do with the old tires? Is there some way to recycle these for retreads, or do I just take them to the local tire store for disposal? In California, we get charged to recycle tires.

We used to use tires filled with diesel at the bottom of brush piles to keep them burning, but some may not like that now days.
I can't believe you are already wearing out tires Bruce. Thats great you are flying that much. You need a trip up to Idaho to try out the new tires at the Caldwell airport!

I think Desser is in SOCAL - they will take them, but you might want to collect a few before making a trip.

Desser used to take them in bundles of three and pay the freight collect. They had to be good carcasses, no cord, no rips or holes.

I googled and came across this information from Desser Tire.
Looks like you can send your old tires back and either have them retreaded or get credit for future purchases.

The tire department at Costco will take them, as well as dead Odyssey batteries.
