Default fuselage hole for wing wiring

Vans plans call for a 7/16 hole for the passage of wires from inside the fuselage to the wings. That seems small, especially if you intend to go with a heated pitot tube, wingtip antenna etc. Once you put a grommet in the bare hole it will be way smaller.

What has been the experience of those of you who have done the wing wiring? Is there a reason not to make the hole bigger?

Tony

Default

I drilled a 7/8 inch hole and used a rubber gromet instead for the left wing. Lots of room for wires, pitot lines etc. I suppose you could go bigger, it's not much for a "deviation from the plans"
