Default Garmin 696 power/data chord question

In connecting the power/data chord to my Airgizmo mounted Garmin 696, I understand the power and ground wires. I need explanation on the "data in"wire (blue) and the "data out" wire (yellow) and how I can best utilize data in and data out on my single screen GX3 system, with a GTR 200 radio and GTX23 transponder.

Thanks in advance,
