Default ARTEX ELT 1000

I have just installed my new ELT 1000. On the self test, I get error 4, Low Power Output. I contacted ARTEX Service and was told this is a known problem and they would get back to me. It's been over a week and no response. Has anyone else experienced this problem and got a solution?

Thanks

Jim,

Did you eventually get a reply from Artex?

I've been considering their Artex 1000 (for my RV8), because their whip antenna that comes with the Artex 1000 ELT measures only 14.75 inches.

Where did you decide to mount the antenna and the ELT?

I'm curious to learn about your experience with the Artex 1000, I am about to place an ELT order, and I have been seriously considering the Artex 1000 as my first choice.

Any feed back would be appreciated.

Regards,

Mike

Mike,

The problem was evidently a bad connection I made. I redid the connections and the unit worked properly.

Artex did offer to inspect the unit if I shipped it back to them.

My install is in a Europa, so mounting details are not the same as RV.

I purchased the Artex to get the PLB they offered, not because of any Artex features. Seems to me all the ELTs are about the same.
