Default Getting acquainted with tail wheel...

...takes about a 100 hours, at least here it did.

It may depend on how many old habits have to be fixed and there were a few in my case, some 50 years of them flying with nose wheel.

I say this to give hope to those in similar situation. It can be done, just be careful in the beginning and expand the windy experiences carefully.

I never thought I'd say this, but I do like the tail wheel operation better every day and would not go back to nose wheel. Its always a bit of a challenge, even take off, but generally fun.

The RV-8 is pure delight for anyone addicted to this business - its an elixir of sorts and mind settling experience every flight.

Not to mention how easy and nice it is moving a TW plane around the hangar, etc. I'm glad I made the transition and don't suspect I'll ever go back to tri-gear unless there's a King Air or Pilatus in my future.

I like it too. I always wanted a tail wheel plane but agonized for a long time if I had the skills to handle it. It really is a nice set of skills to have.
