Default Oil Door Orientation

Can anybody think of a reason why the oil door can't be oriented with the hinge on the forward edge? I misread the plans when I did the cutout; would be easy enough to fix if needed, just some fiberglass work, but then I wondered, why not just install it this way?

I guess if you use something other than a piano hinge, it should work.

Only possible downside I could see is if it's not closed and latched you might not notice as easily... but then, it might also not be as likely to depart the airframe, either?

Hmm I forgot about the curve affecting the hinge. Think I will probably just re-do.

Thanks
