Default Garmin GDL-39R Mounting Location

This question is really for the G3Xperts. Is there any problem mounting the GDL-39R ADS-B receiver right next to a 1090ES transponder? I know the antennas require some separation but what about the actual units?

Hello Dan,

The emissions from a Garmin transponder are low enough that there should be no problem locating the GDL 39R next to the transponder.

The only potential concern, which we are sure you have considered, are cooling air for the transponder.

You might also check the performance of the Bluetooth antenna inside the GDL 39R in the chosen mounting location (if you care).

Let us know if you have additional questions.

Thanks,
Steve
