Default Kings Bay Sub Base

On a trip home from a RV weekend get away we were flying down the East coast just offshore and North of Jacksonville. I looked down to see a funny formation of fishing boats. I then remembered the Sub base. Looks like a sub and all the attachment returning to King's Bay.

Wish I had taken pictures of the weekend as we had a great time in Jekyll Island. They have there own little airport 09J with Red Bug cart rentals. Pretty quite beach town and that is the way we like it.

I have flown over the inlet at Kings Bay while subs were being escorted three times In the Cherokee 180 I used to own. The last time it happened the jax controllers were acting nervous and giving me vectors for multiple traffic targets. The controller then gave me a 270 heading, then immediately cancelled and told me to resume on coarse. I don't think he wanted to broadcast what was actually happening over the radio. Four SH-60 Sea Hawks passed almost directly under me about 1000 feet below my altitude with door gunners at the ready.
