Default OT-Printer cartridges

Has anyone tried the discounted printer cartridges that are substantially cheaper than "name" brand?

The advertising says 'compatible'. They are about 1/4 the cost.

Let me know. I will need some soon. I hate buying from the office stores, I feel like I'm getting ripped off.

IMHO the name brand replacements are a ripoff. I have been using the discount ones for a while now and they are just as good. Even better: there is a kiosk at the mall here that refills the empty ones for WAY cheap

Default $

have read that some printer manufacturers sell their printers at a small loss, knowing they'll get it back later in cartridge sales.

I have tried the "refilled" printer cartridges only to find that they lasted only a short portion of the time as new cartridges. They are NO bargain. Just my experience.

That's how things have worked with some products for a long time, e.g. razors, cameras (film), Nintendo games, etc.
