Default ELT Inspections

Recently a friend was going for his PPL check ride in a RV-9A. The DPE required him to have the ELT inspected and logbook entry for the inspection. Looking at FAR 91.207(d), it appears an ELT inspection does require an entry in the aircraft maintenance log. Would like to hear comments from other DPEs and/or DARs.

Default Annual Requirement for US registered aircraft

Except for a few situations listed in the section you quoted, this is a requirement every 12 calendar months. To show that it has been accomplished a log book entry is required.
