Default My dipstick broke

Right at the top where it connects to the cap. I am going to try and push the pin out re drill and recalibrate with new oil. My question is what type of pin is that? Is it a roll pin and can I use a cotter pin to replace it?

Default Dipstick

Roll pin from the hardware store. The dipstick is machined a few thousands under the stock size where it fits into the cap. You will need access to a lathe. Try to make it a tight fit in the cap portion.

Default Dipstick

I don't recommend using a cotter pin.

Default Thanks

I don't have access to a lathe but there is enough of the machined part to use.
