Need info about axle size??

Hi. What is the diameter of an RV 4 wheel axle. NOT the landing gear leg, but the axle. I'm trying to find some temporary wheels to fit an RV4 I bought just for the transport of the plane home via a trailer(not flying). I will purchase quality aircraft wheels and tires later, but just want something that will work till later on. Is there a cross reference in wheel sizes for a 500x5 tire??, I think that is the standard tire size for an RV????? any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom in Ga.

From my RV-4 plans

1.25 plus zero or minus .001

My RV-6A main gear legs measure 1.249 with a digital caliper.

The thread of the VA-106 axle nut is 1 1/4-16 NEF. Whatever NEF is. I'll look it up later.

Oddly enough my RV-6 plan says that dimension on one side of the sheet and just the opposite-"plus .001, minus zero" on the other. Must be a typo on the latter figure.
