When considering the installation of a unit such as the Garmin GSU 73, which needs to be installed relative to the aircraft axis, what would you consider to be the lateral and longitudinal reference of the aircraft? I am thinking that the longerons (tail to nose) represent the longitudinal axis, while a level set across the longerons (right to left) represents the lateral axis. Can somebody confirm?
