Default How Much Overhang Did You Provide?

I am to the canopy/windscreen fairing on my 9A slider build.
I have been using the Van's plans and they call for 1/4 to 1/2" fairing
overhang over the canopy. That was written a long time ago and I have
learned that in Experimental, best practice changes daily.
I have some minor problems with the canopy/windscreen mating.
The canopy bar does not match the roll bar bends at the 10 and 2 o'clock
positions. Dan H was kind enough to recommend how to correct that with
a micro sandwich but with only 1/2" overhang it could be a problem.
So....what is the norm now days and if it's over 1/2" was it hard to open
the canopy when it came time?

Much Thanks before I start putting glass down.

Hey Bert,
Good to hear you making progress.
If I remember correctly I just used what looked good. I believe I went a 1/4" past the rivets in the canopy. That meant the overhang was about 7/8".
As the front of the canopy rolls straight back then what ever distance you use it will not affect the canopy opening. Within reason.
Remember as far as the two not mating correctly, you will be using some spacers under each screw where the windscreen fastens to the rollbar.

Bert,
I went by the hanger and measured the overhang.
It is only 5/8"

Default Thanks Mark

Thanks Mark I sure appreciate the effort on your part.
I am right at 1/2". Glass is cut for two layers front and top.
Trying to get up the courage to get started.
Think I will waffle until tomorrow.
