Oil pressure fitting location ?

My USED engine 320 A1A had the oil pressure gauge fitting on th left side where the cooler feeds into the case. I saw a pic recently on the forum where the fitting was on the right between the mount and the mag. Which is correct and for my education, Why ???

There are a number of locations that give satisfactory results and there is no correct location . All locations give slightly different numbers.
