Default Two Hairline Slices in Nose Tire Tread

All,

I have a Vans-supplied nose wheel tire, which was put on almost two years ago. The tires look like new, except I noticed two hairline slices (one about 2.5 inches and one about an inch long) along the tread. I could push my finger nail in it spreading the rubber a little, but I don't know how deep it goes or if this occurs normally with the rubber.

Should I not fly it until I replace it? It holds air pressure great. I'm trying to get in touch with Vans also.

Thanks for any insight,
Tim

Thumbs up Tire cuts

If the cuts do not go into the first ply, then they are fine. If you can not see the threads of the ply then they are fine.
Here is the info from Goodyear Aviation and this info is good for all aviation tires unless otherwise stated from manufacture or aircraft operation manuals.

Default tire slices

There is a lot of information about tire slices and tire pressure. I had those slices until I increased the tire pressure.

Speaking of tires....what do you do with your worn out ones?

Will a retreader buy it or just take to your local tire store for recycling?

Thanks again. I'll also check the tire pressure this weekend.
