Default FWIW - Subbies use #6

This issue has been done to death, both here and on the RV List. Bottom line is that if you are running one of the new, smaller batteries (ie. Odyssey of Panasonic) and a lightweight prop, then the flyweight Skytec is not a good starter to use. Especially if you run 4AWG wire for the starter (there- brought it back home.)
In the Subaru world, #6 is working just fine, and this with a compression ratio of 10:1.
But of course the engines start real quick.

Default Thanks all... # 2 it is...

Appreciate the responses and different experiences, given that the starter on the plane may be changed eventually and so may the battery it seems prudent to use no 2 gauge wire to cover all eventualities and make the starting system that much more robust.
I'll just use the #4 as the alternator output cable...
Thanks again,
Rick

Default Starter cable

Apologies to all for stupid question about #4 to B&C starter; should have read paperwork with the starter. It specifies #2 from solenoid to starter. Bill
